A jail warden and Arroyo July 22, 2005
The Saturday issue of Sun.Star Pampanga will banner the story of the Angeles City jail warden who was found dead in his quarters earlier Friday, an apparent suicide.
The reason? He was reportedly worried about the investigation being sought by the US embassy on the death of an American national, a former US Navy man, while locked up in the Angeles jail.
This is the saddest news I’ve come across today. I asked a colleague why this man, recently awarded best district jail warden in Region 3 for introducing reforms that improved the living conditions of inmates, would kill himself over an investigation into an American’s suicide. So what if it’s the US embassy that’s pushing for it?
My co-worker replied: Yeah, why? Arroyo has bigger problems and she’s not killing herself.
Even I have to admit, that was a pretty funny if not insightful response.
